PointFive Alternatives and PointFive Competitors for Cloud Waste Detection and Remediation

PointFive sells a cloud efficiency platform built around DeepWaste, a detection engine its FAQ says runs more than 500 deep detections across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OCI, Kubernetes, Snowflake and Databricks, plus PointFive OS for agent-assisted fixes and TokenShift for AI agents on employee laptops. It is an enterprise product with an enterprise price: its own AWS Marketplace listing starts at $70,500 for a 12-month contract covering up to $3 million of annual cloud spend. Teams look for a PointFive alternative when that number is out of proportion to the waste they expect to find, when procurement wants a second bid, or when they want detection without granting a vendor write access. Below are eleven options compared on how they bill, what they do with the waste they find, and what they publish as a price. We build one of them, so we say plainly where another tool is the better buy.

The short answer

The best PointFive alternative depends on your cloud bill and on whether you want a vendor to fix waste or only find it. Under $1.2 million a year of cloud spend, Cloudchipr ($49 to $890 a month, with Auto Clean) and CostAnalyst ($59 to $479 a month, read-only) cost a small fraction of PointFive's $70,500 entry contract. Between $1 million and $7 million, Vantage Enterprise, CloudZero and Datadog Cloud Cost Management all publish rates that come in below PointFive at the same spend; at $3 million a year they list at about $30,000, $52,250 and $15,000. If agentic remediation is the reason you looked at PointFive, Sedai is its closest competitor, and AWS Compute Optimizer plus Cost Optimization Hub are the free baseline every quote should beat.

Pricing a PointFive quote first? Our PointFive pricing breakdown reads the AWS Marketplace contract tier by tier, and the cloud cost optimization tools guide covers the wider category.

CostAnalyst is on this list, so the plain version first. We do not run 500 detections and we do not change your infrastructure. We read AWS, Azure and Google Cloud billing exports and SaaS spend read-only and show idle, oversized and untagged spend with an owner attached, from $59 a month. PointFive facts come from pointfive.co, its FAQ and DeepWaste pages, and its AWS Marketplace listing prodview-xmaaw4f7qya3i, read on 23 October 2026. Competitor prices come from each vendor's pricing page or AWS Marketplace listing. Where a vendor publishes nothing we say so and do not invent a figure. Confirm current pricing with each vendor before you buy.

Bar chart of published annual prices at 3 million dollars of yearly cloud spend: PointFive Business 70,500 dollars, CloudHealth 90,000, IBM Cloudability 76,680, CloudZero 52,250, Vantage Enterprise 30,000, Datadog CCM Pro 15,000, CostAnalyst Scale 5,748

How we compared

Five things that actually separate these tools

Fee against the waste you expect to find

PointFive prices by annual cloud spend band, not by waste found: its Marketplace listing says the tier "is set by your total annual cloud spend, not by the amount of waste found." At $1 million of spend the $70,500 Business contract is 7 percent of the bill; at $3 million it is 2.35 percent. Before you compare features, estimate the waste. If a free pass with AWS Compute Optimizer and Cost Optimization Hub already shows $40,000 a year of idle and oversized resources, a $70,500 contract has to find a lot more than that to pay back in year one.

Detection only, or remediation with write access

PointFive discovery is agentless and read-only through cloud IAM roles, and its automatic remediation "runs on PointFive infrastructure and executes changes using customer-authorized write permissions." That is the same split you will find across the category. Cloudchipr Auto Clean and Sedai change resources for you. CloudZero, Vantage, Datadog, Cloudability, CloudHealth and CostAnalyst report and route the finding to an owner. Decide which side of that line your security team will sign off on before the demo, not after.

Coverage beyond AWS

PointFive lists AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OCI, EKS, AKS, GKE, Snowflake and Databricks. Most alternatives match the three big clouds; fewer match Snowflake and Databricks, and very few cover OCI. Write down the five largest lines on your bill and check each vendor against those, because a waste engine that cannot read your second-largest platform leaves the savings there on the table.

How the fix reaches an engineer

Findings that sit in a dashboard do not save money. PointFive prepares Terraform and CloudFormation changes for review and routes them through Jira, Slack and ServiceNow. Ask every alternative the same question: when it finds an idle volume, who is told, in which tool, and is the fix written as code or as a sentence? A short list with an owner attached beats a long list nobody owns.

Contract shape and exit terms

PointFive's Marketplace contract runs 12 or 24 months, the 24-month price is about 20 percent lower per year, and the listing says "No refunds." CloudZero, Cloudability and CloudHealth also sell annual contracts on Marketplace, which can count toward an AWS spend commitment. Cloudchipr, Vantage and CostAnalyst sell month to month. If you are not sure the waste is there, a monthly plan you can cancel is cheaper insurance than a discount for a longer term.

Tool by tool

What each tool is genuinely best at

01

PointFive (the baseline)

Best for: Enterprises with $3 million or more of annual cloud, data and AI spend that want deep waste detection and agent-assisted fixes

For reference, here is what you would be replacing. PointFive OS finds waste across cloud, data and AI, traces it to a cause and fixes it with your approval through Chat, Coworkers and Apps; DeepWaste is the detection engine, which the FAQ says runs more than 500 deep detections. Coverage on the FAQ is AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OCI, EKS, AKS, GKE, Snowflake and Databricks, discovery is agentless and read-only, and processing sits inside a SOC 2 Type II scope. The website asks you to contact sales for a quote, but the AWS Marketplace listing sold by PointFive prices Business at $70,500 for 12 months or $112,800 for 24 months (up to $3 million of annual cloud spend) and Scale at $140,000 or $224,800 (up to $7 million). Enterprise above $7 million shows a placeholder and a sales address. The refund policy reads "No refunds." It is a strong product for a large estate. It is hard to justify for a $1 million bill.

02

CloudZero

Best for: SaaS companies that want cost per customer and per feature alongside waste findings

CloudZero is the alternative to pick when the question behind the waste hunt is margin: which customers and which features are expensive to serve. Its website quotes on request, but its AWS Marketplace listing prices the platform at $19 per $1,000 of monthly AWS spend on a one-month term and $209 per $1,000 on a 12-month term. At $250,000 a month of AWS spend, which is $3 million a year, the 12-month contract comes to $52,250, about $18,000 less than PointFive Business. It finds anomalies and allocates cost well; it does not run a remediation engine, so the fix stays with your engineers.

See what CloudZero costs
03

Vantage

Best for: Engineering-led teams that want a self-serve cost platform and a published rate at any size

Vantage publishes its whole ladder: a free Starter tier to $2,500 of monthly cloud spend, Pro at $30 a month, Business at $200, and on its AWS Marketplace Enterprise listing $200 a month plus 1 percent of monthly cloud costs above $20,000. At $250,000 a month that is about $2,500 a month, or $30,000 a year, well under half of PointFive Business. Vantage covers AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, Kubernetes, Snowflake, Databricks and Datadog among other providers, and its rightsizing and idle resource reports are good. Its paid automation, Autopilot, buys commitments rather than deleting waste, so cleanup is still a ticket for your team.

04

Datadog Cloud Cost Management

Best for: Teams already on Datadog that want cost and waste next to the metrics engineers watch

If your engineers already live in Datadog, its Cloud Cost Management puts waste beside the dashboards they open every morning. Datadog publishes the rate: Cost Visibility is free, Pro is $5 per $1,000 of monthly cloud spend billed annually ($7.20 on-demand) and Enterprise $10 ($15 on-demand). At $250,000 a month, Pro works out to about $15,000 a year. Two cautions: the line sits on top of an existing Datadog bill that tends to grow, and Azure pay-as-you-go subscriptions cannot be configured.

05

IBM Cloudability

Best for: Enterprises standardizing on IBM Apptio for technology business management

Cloudability is the enterprise reporting and governance choice, and it is priced in the same range as PointFive. Its AWS Marketplace ladder runs $30,000 a year to $1 million of annual cloud spend, $76,680 to $3 million and $132,480 to $6 million. At $3 million that is $6,180 more than PointFive Business, so pick it for the IBM Apptio stack, chargeback and finance reporting, not to save money on waste detection.

06

CloudHealth by Broadcom

Best for: Large multi-account AWS estates with existing VMware or Broadcom relationships

CloudHealth is still actively developed; Broadcom shipped a rebuilt experience in June 2025 with AI features. Its AWS Marketplace ladder is $45,000 a year to $150,000 of monthly AWS spend, $90,000 to $300,000 and $150,000 to $500,000, which is 2.5 percent at each ceiling. At $250,000 a month you land in the $90,000 tier, the most expensive option on this page at that size. It earns its price on governance policies across hundreds of accounts, not on waste depth.

07

Finout

Best for: Companies with messy tagging that need virtual tags across clouds and SaaS bills

Finout is the pick when the real obstacle is that nobody can say who owns the waste, because its virtual tagging allocates spend over billing data without retagging. Its AWS Marketplace offer lists Business at $12,000 a year up to $500,000 of annual AWS spend and Pro at $40,000 up to $2 million; above that it is a private offer. Kubernetes cost data adds 25 percent on Business and Pro. Under $2 million of spend it comes in well below PointFive.

See what Finout costs
08

Cloudchipr

Best for: Small and mid-size AWS, Azure and Google Cloud teams that want idle resources cleaned up automatically

Cloudchipr is the closest small-team answer to the "find it and fix it" half of PointFive. Its pricing page lists Basic at $49 a month up to $5,000 of monthly cloud spend, Advanced at $189 for $5,000 to $25,000 and Pro at $890 for $25,000 to $100,000, with 10 percent off annually and a 14-day trial with no credit card. Advanced and Pro include Auto Clean, which removes or stops idle resources on a schedule; Pro adds anomaly detection, SSO and AI-written reports. Above $100,000 a month it moves to a quote, so compare it with PointFive only below that line.

09

Sedai

Best for: Teams that want autonomous optimization of live compute, serverless and Kubernetes

If the agentic remediation is the part of PointFive you actually want, Sedai is the competitor to put beside it. Sedai optimizes running workloads autonomously, including compute, serverless and Kubernetes, inside guardrails your team defines, and offers a 30-day trial. It publishes no price, so ask for the quote on the same baseline month PointFive used and compare the fee against the savings each one projects.

10

nOps

Best for: AWS-heavy teams that want commitments, compute automation and visibility from one vendor

nOps bundles commitment management, Spot automation and cost visibility. Rate optimization is billed as a share of savings and visibility as a fixed fee based on cloud spend; neither number is on its site, and there is a 14-day trial. It suits an AWS team that would rather have one vendor for discounts and waste than buy PointFive and a commitment manager separately. Get both figures in writing before the trial ends.

11

AWS Compute Optimizer and Cost Optimization Hub

Best for: Every AWS team, as the free baseline any paid quote has to beat

Before signing anything, turn on AWS Compute Optimizer and Cost Optimization Hub. Compute Optimizer recommends instance, volume and Lambda sizes from your utilization, and Cost Optimization Hub collects those and Cost Explorer rightsizing findings across accounts and Regions into one list with an estimated monthly saving. The total it shows is the floor a paid tool has to beat. What it lacks is depth outside compute, any view of Snowflake, Databricks or SaaS, and an owner for each finding.

CostAnalyst

Best for: Teams with up to $1 million a month of cloud spend that want waste and spend owners found read-only, at a published price

We are the read-only option. CostAnalyst reads AWS, Azure and Google Cloud billing exports plus SaaS spend, shows idle and oversized resources, untagged spend and commitment gaps, and attaches each one to a team so it gets fixed. Plans are $59 a month billed yearly up to $50,000 of monthly tracked spend, $179 to $250,000 and $479 to $1 million, so a $3 million a year estate fits the $479 plan at $5,748 a year. We do not run PointFive's detection depth on data platforms and we do not change anything in your accounts. If you want to see the waste before you pay anyone to remove it, upload one billing export to the free one-time demo.

See how CostAnalyst works

How to choose

Pick by the problem you actually have

Your cloud bill is under $1 million a year

PointFive's entry contract would be 7 percent or more of the bill. Use Cloudchipr if you want idle resources cleaned up automatically, or CostAnalyst if you want the waste and its owners shown read-only, and start with AWS Compute Optimizer either way.

You spend $1 million to $7 million and need a second bid

Price Vantage Enterprise, CloudZero and Datadog Cloud Cost Management at your real monthly spend. All three publish rates, and at $3 million a year they list at about $30,000, $52,250 and $15,000 against PointFive's $70,500.

You want an agent to fix waste in production

Shortlist PointFive and Sedai, and ask both to quote on the same baseline month with the fix approval model written into the contract.

Snowflake and Databricks are large lines on the bill

PointFive, Vantage and CloudZero cover them. Check each against your two largest data platform lines before you sign.

Nobody can say who owns the waste

Fix allocation first. Finout's virtual tags or CostAnalyst's owner mapping will make every later waste finding actionable, whichever detection tool you buy.

You keep PointFive but want an independent check

Track idle spend, coverage and savings yourself from the billing export so the renewal is judged on your numbers. CostAnalyst does that read-only from $59 a month.

Questions buyers ask

PointFive alternatives, answered

What are the best PointFive alternatives?

The best PointFive alternatives are CloudZero, Vantage and Datadog Cloud Cost Management for a published rate between $1 million and $7 million of cloud spend, Sedai for autonomous remediation, Cloudchipr and CostAnalyst for smaller teams, and Cloudability or CloudHealth for enterprise governance. AWS Compute Optimizer and Cost Optimization Hub are the free baseline to measure every quote against.

Who are PointFive competitors?

PointFive competes most directly with Sedai on agentic remediation and with CloudZero, Vantage, Cloudability, CloudHealth and Datadog Cloud Cost Management on cloud cost visibility and waste reporting. For smaller estates Cloudchipr is the closest match on automatic cleanup. Its strongest competitor in many deals is the free AWS tooling plus an engineer who owns the fixes.

How much does PointFive cost?

PointFive quotes on its website, but its AWS Marketplace listing prices Business at $70,500 for 12 months or $112,800 for 24 months, up to $3 million of annual cloud spend, and Scale at $140,000 or $224,800, up to $7 million. Above $7 million it is a quote. The fee depends on total cloud spend, not on waste found, and the listing says no refunds.

Is there a cheaper alternative to PointFive?

Yes, at almost every spend level. At $3 million of annual cloud spend, Datadog Cloud Cost Management Pro lists at about $15,000 a year, Vantage Enterprise at about $30,000 and CloudZero at $52,250 on a 12-month contract, against $70,500 for PointFive Business. Below $1.2 million a year, Cloudchipr and CostAnalyst cost a few hundred dollars a month.

PointFive vs Sedai, which is better?

Choose PointFive if you want broad detection across clouds, Snowflake and Databricks with fixes prepared as Terraform or CloudFormation for review. Choose Sedai if you want running compute, serverless and Kubernetes tuned autonomously in production. PointFive publishes a Marketplace price; Sedai quotes, with a 30-day trial. Test both on the same accounts.

PointFive vs CloudZero, how do they differ?

PointFive is a waste detection and remediation platform priced by spend band. CloudZero is a cost intelligence platform built around unit economics, such as cost per customer and per feature, priced at $19 per $1,000 of monthly AWS spend on Marketplace. CloudZero reports and allocates; PointFive goes further into fixing. At $3 million a year CloudZero lists about $18,000 lower.

Does PointFive need write access to my cloud?

No, not for discovery. PointFive says discovery is agentless and read-only through standard cloud IAM roles. Write permissions are needed only if you turn on automatic remediation, which runs on PointFive infrastructure with permissions you authorize. You can also keep fixes manual, with engineers reviewing prepared changes in their own pipeline.

What does PointFive DeepWaste detect?

DeepWaste is PointFive's detection engine. The company says it runs more than 500 deep detections across AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OCI, Snowflake, Databricks, Kubernetes and AI platforms, using usage patterns and configuration rather than billing thresholds alone, organized into five layers of infrastructure waste. The count is the vendor's own figure.

Is there a free PointFive alternative?

AWS Compute Optimizer and Cost Optimization Hub give free rightsizing and idle resource recommendations across AWS accounts, and Vantage has a free tier up to $2,500 of monthly cloud spend. Free tools leave the fix and the owner to you. CostAnalyst offers a free one-time demo on one of your billing exports before you pick a plan.

What should I ask PointFive before signing?

Ask which spend figure sets your tier and how growth past $3 million or $7 million is billed mid-term, what the 24-month discount is on your quote, which detections cover your two largest data platform lines, who approves automatic fixes, and what happens to the fee if the waste found in month three is smaller than projected.
