Bar chart of the PointFive 12-month fee as a share of annual cloud spend, from 7.05 percent at 1 million dollars to 2 percent at 7 million dollars

PointFive does not publish a price on its website, but its AWS Marketplace listing does. The Business tier costs $70,500 for a 12-month contract covering up to $3 million of annual cloud spend, and Scale costs $140,000 covering up to $7 million. Two-year contracts are $112,800 and $224,800, about 20 percent less per year. Above $7 million it is a quote, and the listing says "No refunds."

We read these figures on 23 October 2026 from the pricing data behind the listing titled Cloud Optimization and AI Efficiency (listing ID prodview-xmaaw4f7qya3i, seller PointFive), and checked them against pointfive.co, its FAQ and its DeepWaste page. The website's FAQ answers "What does PointFive cost?" with "Contact us for a quote based on your environment and requirements." The Marketplace contract is the only public number, so this guide reads it tier by tier, works out what it means as a share of your cloud bill, and shows where the published alternatives land at the same spend.

How much does PointFive cost?

PointFive costs $70,500 a year on its public AWS Marketplace contract for organizations with up to $3 million of annual cloud spend, and $140,000 a year up to $7 million. The tier follows total cloud spend, not the amount of waste the platform finds, and each band covers the full product rather than a feature subset.

TierAnnual cloud spend covered12-month contract24-month contract24 months, per year
BusinessUp to $3,000,000$70,500$112,800$56,400
ScaleUp to $7,000,000$140,000$224,800$112,400
EnterpriseAbove $7,000,000Quote (contact [email protected])QuoteQuote

The Enterprise row on the listing carries a figure of $9,999,999. That is a placeholder that stops anyone buying the tier without a conversation, not a price. The listing also notes that pricing "is based on the duration and terms of your contract," that access ends when the contract expires unless it is renewed, and that additional AWS infrastructure costs may apply. The support terms state the refund policy in two words: "No refunds."

The listing's own pricing notes answer the question most buyers ask first. "Does the price depend on how much waste I have or just my total spend?" The answer: "The tier you pay is set by your total annual cloud spend, not by the amount of waste found." Annual cloud spend means the total across cloud and AI infrastructure, measured through PointFive's read-only integrations.

What PointFive costs as a share of your cloud bill

Because the fee is fixed per band, its weight against your bill changes a lot inside each band. At $1 million of annual cloud spend the Business contract is 7.05 percent of the bill. At $3 million it falls to 2.35 percent. Cross the line and Scale starts at 3.5 percent at $4 million, falling to 2 percent at $7 million.

Annual cloud spendTier12-month feeFee as share of spendWaste PointFive must find to break even
$1,000,000Business$70,5007.05%$70,500 a year, 7% of the bill
$2,000,000Business$70,5003.53%3.5% of the bill
$3,000,000Business$70,5002.35%2.4% of the bill

$7,000,000Scale$140,0002.00%2.0% of the bill

The right-hand column is the test that matters. A waste detection platform pays for itself only if the savings it surfaces, and your engineers actually ship, exceed the fee. Most mature AWS estates already capture the obvious items through Compute Optimizer and Reserved Instance or Savings Plans coverage, so the question is how much is left after that. If you cannot point to 3 or 4 percent of the bill in waste that the free tooling misses, a $1 million to $2 million estate will struggle to earn back the Business contract in year one.

Is the 24-month PointFive contract worth it?

The 24-month contract saves $28,200 on Business ($112,800 against $141,000 for two single years) and $55,200 on Scale ($224,800 against $280,000), a discount of about 20 percent. Whether that is worth it depends on how sure you are about two things: that the platform will keep finding waste in year two, and that your spend will stay inside the band.

Year two is where detection tools usually show their weakest return, because the first wave of idle volumes, oversized instances and forgotten snapshots has already been cleaned up. With "No refunds" on the listing, a two-year term turns that risk into a fixed cost. A fair middle path is to sign 12 months, record the savings that actually shipped each quarter, and ask for the 24-month rate at renewal with that evidence in hand.

What happens when your cloud spend crosses $3 million?

You move up a tier. The listing's own answer is that "Growing past $3,000,000 shifts you from Business to Scale. Growing past $7,000,000 moves you to Enterprise." On the list prices that roughly doubles the fee, from $70,500 to $140,000, for crossing a single dollar of spend.

That step is the most important thing to negotiate if your bill is anywhere near $3 million. Ask three questions in writing before signing: which twelve months of spend set your tier, whether growth during the term triggers a mid-term upgrade or waits for renewal, and whether PointFive will price a band at your actual spend, such as $3.5 million, rather than at the next ceiling. Fast-growing AI workloads make this more likely, because GPU and model spend can push a bill across the line within a quarter.

What do you get for the price?

The contract covers the PointFive platform as a whole. Its FAQ describes the main pieces:

  • DeepWaste detection. The company says DeepWaste "runs 500+ deep detections for cloud and AI waste," using usage patterns and configuration rather than billing thresholds alone, organized into five layers of infrastructure waste. The count is PointFive's own figure.
  • Coverage. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, OCI, Kubernetes on EKS, AKS and GKE, Snowflake and Databricks, plus AI platforms.
  • Read-only discovery. Agentless integrations through standard cloud IAM roles. "Discovery uses read-only access."
  • Remediation. Fixes can be prepared as Terraform and CloudFormation changes for review and routed through Jira, Slack and ServiceNow, or run automatically on PointFive infrastructure "using customer-authorized write permissions."
  • PointFive OS and TokenShift. PointFive OS is the agentic layer for finding and fixing waste with Chat, Coworkers and Apps. TokenShift is a separate product for controlling AI agents on employee workstations; confirm whether your quote includes it.
  • Security. Processing within a SOC 2 Type II scope with role-based access control.

The FAQ does not list a free trial or a public sandbox. The path is "Book a demo," and onboarding time "depends on your environment and data availability." If you want to test before you commit, ask for a time-boxed proof of value on two or three accounts with a written savings target.

PointFive pricing compared with the alternatives

At the same spend, most published alternatives come in below PointFive Business. The table uses $3 million of annual cloud spend, or $250,000 a month, and list prices from each vendor's pricing page or AWS Marketplace listing.

The comparison is not like for like on depth. PointFive's detection catalog and its remediation workflow go further than the reporting tools in the table, and that is what the premium buys. Can you buy PointFive through AWS Marketplace?

Yes. PointFive sells a public offer on AWS Marketplace, and it also sells directly through its sales team. Buying on AWS Marketplace puts the charge on your AWS invoice, which can count toward an AWS Enterprise Discount Program commitment; confirm eligibility with your AWS account team. The listing also mentions custom pricing, so a private offer at a negotiated rate is possible, and the public rate card is a good anchor to start that negotiation from.

If you are buying outside Marketplace, run the renewal through the same intake your other vendor contracts go through, so the competing bids and the savings evidence sit next to the contract. A B2B procurement platform makes that easier when finance, security and engineering all need to sign off on one purchase.

Questions to ask PointFive before you sign

  • Which spend figure sets our tier? Trailing twelve months, a forecast, or the current run rate, and whether AI provider spend counts.
  • What happens if we cross $3 million or $7 million mid-term? Immediate upgrade, true-up at renewal, or a custom band.
  • Which detections cover our two largest lines? Ask to see findings for your real top services, not a demo account.
  • Who approves automatic fixes, and how are they rolled back? Get the approval model written into the order form.
  • Is TokenShift included? Confirm which products the quote covers.
  • What if the savings shipped are below the fee? With no refunds, ask for a savings target and an exit or credit if it is missed.

Measure your waste before you request a quote

Every number in this guide comes back to one figure you should know before the first sales call: how much idle, oversized and unowned spend your estate actually has. CostAnalyst reads your AWS, Azure and Google Cloud billing exports read-only and shows idle and oversized resources, untagged spend and commitment gaps with a team attached, from $59 a month. It changes nothing in your accounts. See how cloud waste detection works, or run a free one-time analysis of your own billing export and take the dollar figure into the PointFive conversation.

The short version

PointFive's public AWS Marketplace contract is $70,500 a year up to $3 million of cloud spend and $140,000 up to $7 million, with about 20 percent off for two years, quotes above $7 million and no refunds. The fee follows spend, not waste found, so it is 7 percent of a $1 million bill and 2 percent of a $7 million one. Check what free AWS tooling already finds, price CloudZero, Vantage and Datadog at your real spend, and negotiate the band step at $3 million before you sign.
