Nerdio Pricing and Nerdio Cost per User for Enterprise and MSP, With the Minimums

Nerdio Manager for Enterprise costs $6 per user per month for AVD Core and $10 for AVD Premium, $3 for Windows 365 and $1 for Intune endpoints, with a $1,000 monthly minimum, according to Nerdio's own Azure Marketplace listing. Annual plans are $72, $120, $36 and $12 per user per year with a $12,000 minimum. Nerdio Manager for MSP is $12 per named AVD user per month, plus $50 per tenant or $3 per user for Microsoft 365, with a $60 monthly minimum per customer environment.

The enterprise pricing page on getnerdio.com shows a "Request pricing" button for its Windows Cloud editions and no per-user figure, which is why so many buyers think Nerdio is quote-only. It is not. Nerdio sells the same product through the Azure Marketplace, and that listing prints the full rate card. We read both on 28 September 2026. The arithmetic below is ours and is shown so you can redo it for your own user count.

How much does Nerdio cost per user?

Nerdio Manager for Enterprise bills each unique Microsoft Entra ID user who used a Nerdio-managed resource during the month, and it bills that user once, at the highest entitlement they touched. A person who signed in to a Premium host pool and also has an Intune laptop pays the Premium rate, not both.

Look at the two columns side by side and you will notice the annual list price is exactly twelve months of the monthly one. The list annual plan buys you no per-user discount. What it changes is commitment and the minimum, and the listing says discounted volume, multi-year, education and nonprofit pricing are available by contacting Nerdio. So the annual number is the ceiling you negotiate down from, not a discount you already have.

Premium is the edition most cost buyers end up on, because the features that pay back the fee sit there. Getnerdio.com lists executive and operational insights, per-user cost reporting and multi-region management as the Premium additions over Core.

How much does Nerdio Manager for MSP cost?

The MSP product is consumption-based with no upfront or long-term commitment, billed on the users in the prior month. The number that decides your margin is the $60 minimum per customer. At a five-seat dental office the minimum is the bill, $60 against $60 of usage at list. At a 40-seat accounting firm it disappears into $480 of usage. If you pass the fee through to customers, bake the minimum into your smallest tier. If you invoice that pass-through monthly per customer, it is worth putting automated invoice follow-up on those small recurring charges, because a $60 line is exactly the kind a client forgets to pay.

What does Nerdio cost for 100, 250, 500 and 1,000 users?

Here is the monthly license cost at four estate sizes. For Hydra, the main alternative that bills differently, we assume 60 percent of users are signed in at the busiest moment of the month, a common ratio for office workers. Replace it with your own peak from Azure Virtual Desktop Insights before you rely on the comparison.

The enterprise minimum bites below about 167 Core users or 100 Premium users. Below that line you pay $1,000 a month regardless, so a 60-person pilot on Core effectively costs $16.67 per user. Hydra by Login VSI charges $5 per peak concurrent user per month with no minimum, which is why it lands at half of Nerdio Core in every row at our concurrency assumption. At 100 percent concurrency, meaning everyone signed in at once, Hydra would cost $5 against Core's $6, so the gap depends almost entirely on your shift pattern.

Is Nerdio worth the cost?

Nerdio is worth it when it removes more Azure compute, storage and admin time than it costs, and the only way to know is to put the fee next to the compute bill. That comparison is less comfortable than most Nerdio reviews admit.

Azure bills Windows 10 and Windows 11 AVD session hosts at Linux compute rates. A Standard_D8s_v5 in East US is $0.384 an hour on that basis, about $280 a month if it never switches off. Microsoft's sizing guidance allows up to 4 medium users per vCPU, so one 8-vCPU host carries up to 32 medium users. Take 500 users with 300 signed in at peak: that is 10 hosts, about $2,800 a month running around the clock, or about $5.60 per named user.

Now schedule it. Run the 10 hosts for 11 hours on 22 weekdays and keep 2 on otherwise, and the compute drops to about $1,300 a month. Native AVD autoscale does exactly that for $0. Nerdio Core for the same 500 users is $3,000 a month, more than the whole scheduled compute bill in this example. So the case for Nerdio is not basic scheduling, which Microsoft now gives away. It is everything above that:

• predictive and usage-based autoscaling that trims the hours native phases leave on, which Nerdio says can reduce Azure costs by up to 55%;
• storage auto-scaling, switching premium disks to cheaper tiers when hosts are off;
• image management and host pool deployment that replace scripts your team maintains;
• per-user cost reporting on Premium, which is the shortest route to AVD chargeback;
• the admin hours all of that saves, which in a lean EUC team is often the real payback.

Estates with heavy or power users, GPU hosts, or many small host pools see compute bills several times larger per user than our example, and there the percentage Nerdio claws back can dwarf the fee. Light-user estates on well-tuned native autoscale may not. Run the numbers on your own bill.

Are there hidden costs with Nerdio?

Three, none of them secret but all easy to leave out of a business case.

• Hosting. Nerdio Manager for Enterprise deploys as an Azure App Service with a SQL database in your own subscription. That is a monthly Azure cost on your bill, separate from the license. Nerdio's help center describes scaling the App Service down for small pilots and up for large deployments.
• The minimum. $1,000 a month on enterprise pay as you go, $12,000 a year on annual, and $60 per customer environment on MSP.
• Double counting. Each user is billed once at the highest entitlement, which is fair, but a single Premium host pool can lift users who only need Core. Keep Premium host pools for the people who need Premium features.

Nerdio vs Hydra vs native autoscale

Hydra began as Microsoft MVP Marcel Meurer's ITProCloud project and became part of Login VSI in May 2025. Its pricing page lists no onboarding fee, no per-tenant add-ons and unlimited tenants, plus a month of 2x burst protection on annual plans. Does Nerdio offer a free trial?

Yes. Getnerdio.com offers a free trial for both the enterprise and MSP products, without stating its length, and a free AVD Modeler that designs host pools and estimates Azure cost before you deploy. The Marketplace listing notes that using Nerdio Manager for Enterprise beyond the initial trial requires activating billing through its companion billing offer.

How to check whether Nerdio paid for itself

Measure outside the tool you are measuring. Tag the AVD resource groups, record 30 days of compute, storage and networking cost for each host pool before rollout, and compare the same 30 days after, next to the Nerdio invoice.
